Delhi Police Commissioner Niraj Kumar, who is under tremendous pressure from the people to step down owing moral responsibility over the child rape case, has categorically refused and asked “Why should I resign to some one’s mistake? If, my resigning will prevent such depraved action of the society, then I am ready to resign a thousand times. But that is not going to address the problem. We have registered an FIR on the same day and nabbed the two offenders within two days."
The Commissioner addressing the press conference has said “This is a problem aroused due to mental depravity and one’s psychopathic behavior. It can’t be resolved with my resignation. It needs to be dealt accordingly. Those whoever found lapses in duties will be punished and I assure you it will be an exemplary. We are conducting internal investigation on who have failed in this case and who have offered bribe to the victim’s parents to hush up the case.”
When a media asked repeated the question, the visually irritated Commissioner has harshly asked “If you do some wrong reporting does your editor resign?
He said, the Delhi Police are doing their best and he can’t find fault with them all. Niraj Kumar will be retiring from his job in coming July. This is second time for him to face heat from the people for his resignation after Delhi gang rape case in December.
