Finance Minister P.Chidambaram has mentioned the following points at the Parliament session :
1. Government fully committed to Aadhaar project, even critics will realize it's a tool of empowerment
2. The allocation for the Defence Ministry has been increased to Rs 2,24,000 crore
3. Nearly 9 lakh student borrowers will benefit through the moratorium on repayment of student loans
4. 41,16,000 women have been provided credit through SHGs
5. India's economy is the 11th largest in the world
6. Food subsidy shoots up to over 1 lakh crore, Rs 2,46,397 crore allocated for food, fertilizer and fuel subsidy.
7. To offer Interest relief to student loans with PSU banks
8. The fortunes of India will have significant impact on world economy in the future
9. Top areas of priority: fiscal consolidation; CAD; high growth with moderate level of inflation; time table for passing legislation
10. We must focus on manufacturing, and manufacturing for export; with minimum tariff protection
