A Military Coup In India

Since the publication of an article in the Indian express in 2012, the queries regarding an attempted army coup were left unanswered. The then army chief V.K.Singh was suspected to have ordered two army units to move towards Delhi without the permission of the Defense ministry. V.K.Singh during his tenure has openly conflicted with the government. He even accused of being offered bribe to purchase sub-standard vehicles for the military. V.K.Singh has even knocked the doors of Supreme Court against the government regarding his official birth date. Thus, he became the first military chief to take the Government of India to court. It was thought that V.K.Singh has ordered the troops to march against Delhi either to stage a coup or at least to threaten it. As the government was notified about the suspected movements of army in the night of January 15th 2012, it has immediately taken steps to demobilize them. The incident was hushed up, but the skeletons of truth were often raised for the sake of sensation.
Senior congress leader Manish Tewari has once more raised the issue while speaking in a book release function on Thursday. "At that point of time I used to serve in the standing committee on defense. And it's unfortunate but the story was true. story was correct. I am not getting into an argument. All I am saying is that to the best of my knowledge that story was correct," was his statement! Though the congress party has distanced from his statements, a few did support him. Former minister Mani Shankar Aiyar said that ‘something did happen that night’. WHAT WAS THAT!
