AP Train Accident: Chiru, Raghuveera Visit The Site

Ministers Raghuveera Reddy, Shailajanath and MP Chiranjeevi visited the Hampi Express train accident site. The Hubli-Bangalore Hampi Express has met with ghastly accident in the wee hours of Tuesday at Penugonda station, when the express train rammed into a stationary goods train. Four bogies of the express train got derailed, while three bogies gutted completely in the fire caused by the crash. So far 16 deaths have been reported, out of which 10 got burnt alive including the driver of the train, while over 40 people are said to be injured critically.
The Railway Minister Mukul Roy, who has ordered for an enquiry into the incident, is yet to reach the accident site Penugonda to review the situation. An ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakhs to the deceased, 1 lakh to critically injured and Rs. 50,000/- to persons who received simple injuries has been announced by the Central Government. Meanwhile, ministers Raghuvewera Reddy, Shailajanath and MP Chiranjeevi reached the site and are reviewing the relief operations apart from consoling the victims.
