Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy warned the Cement Industries in the state to immediately bring down the cement prices to their normal range or face serious action. The ministers’ sub-committee holds a meeting on Friday with the Cement manufacturers in the state.
Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy later speaking to the media said, “Our government is providing un-interrupted power supply to the cement industries. We have given them mining licenses for limestone. They are availing subsidies under various schemes declared by our government. The transport charges also come down due to fall in diesel prices. Even then, they are increasing the cement prices at regular intervals. It is beyond the reach of common man. A cement bag of 25 kgs weight is costing around Rs.325 to 350. It should bring down to earlier prices with in next four or five days otherwise we will take severe action against the cement companies.”
This is first time that the AP government is warning the Cement industries. It became necessary as the cement costs gone beyond the reach of common man. But, Tamilnadu government adopted a different policy to tackle this problem. It recently introduces Amma Cement to weaker sections in the society. It is offering at subsidized price of Rs. 190/- each cement bag of 25kgs weight. However, it will become additional burden and also an obligation for the government.
