AP Transport minister Sidda Raghava Rao said “Telangana government is reluctant to negotiate with our government on the entry tax issue. There is no response to our letter written to Telangana Chief Minister KCR. Even, I have tried to contact my counterpart Jagadish Reddy, but he is also not willing to speak on this issue. Daily, hundreds of people from AP come to common capital Hyderabad on various works. They are suffering with the Telangana government’s decision. Since the Telangana government is not willing to revoke its decision on the entry tax, we may have to knock the court doors challenging its decision.”
The high court has allowed the Telangana state to collect entry tax from the AP vehicles entering into the state. But, the high court bench made it clear that the case will be continued on this issue. Hence, it asks the Telangana government to remit the amount collected from the AP vehicles in a separate bank account until it resolves this issue.
Since, the high court allows the Telangana government to collect entry tax from the AP vehicles, the AP government may file a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the high court’s decision, once the high court announces it verdict on this issue.
