Anna Hazare Open Letter to MPs

Social activist Anna Hazare on Tuesday issued an open letter to all members of Parliament, appealing them to prevent introduction of the 'anti-poor' Lokpal Bill passed by the Cabinet last week.
In his letter, Hazare has said that introduction of such an "anti-poor" and "defectively structured" Bill, which does not give them the option of debating some of the most critical issues to fight corruption, should be seen as "an affront to the honourable Parliamentarians".
Hazare's letter has mentioned all the key proposals that have been omitted from the Lokpal Bill that the government plans to bring to Parliament. These include provisions to bring the Prime Minister and higher judiciary within the ambit of the proposed Lokpal, plans to set up a strong public grievance redressal mechanism, and provisions to set up offices of Lokayuktas at the state level.
