Aadhar not required for Rly. Ticket booking

Often, people feel very frustrated when they were asked to submit Aadhar card copies for booking train tickets at railway reservation counters after standing for hours in the queues, because many people either still don’t have Aadhar cards or not aware that they have to submit Aadhar card copy for booking train tickets.
People may have the same feeling when they have to fill up their Aadhar No.s in the columns, while booking Tatkal tickets online. IRCTC notices this frustrating practice and decides to remove this formality from September 1st. Hence, people need not to submit Aadhar cards, copies or numbers while booking tickets at railways reservation counters or in online ticket bookings from September 1st. However, they have to carry identity proof while boarding the trains.
Indian Railways is also introducing a nationwide common help line (phone) No. 1512 very soon for registering complaints. Passengers can lodge their complaints from anywhere to this number regarding theft cases or any other issues. Indian Railways is going to set up control rooms nationwide to register and forward the complaints to respective sections and persons promptly.
