The speculations on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's health are rife with the party not relenting to the outside pressure to release her photos yet. The 68-year-old AIADMK leader was admitted to the hospital on September 22 after she complained of fever and dehydration. "She is recovering well. We hope she is discharged soon. It is not necessary to release pictures of Jayalalithaa.
We are answerable only to people, not the opposition," a party spokesperson said. Tamil Nadu's acting governor Vidyasagar Rao visited her on Saturday, and said that she is "recovering well". The governor spent around 35 minutes at the hospital. According to a statement from Raj Bhavan, the governor was briefed by Dr Pratap C Reddy, chairman of Apollo Hospitals, on the treatment being given to the CM. On Friday night, Dr. Richard John Beale from the London Bridge hospital entered the Apollo Hospitals facility on Greams Road, triggering another round of fresh speculation.
While multiple sources confirmed his entry, there has not been any official word on his involvement in medical treatment. Sources at Apollo Hospital neither denied nor confirmed his presence. “Necessary evaluation tests are being carried out. The Honourable Chief Minister has been advised few days stay in the hospital for recuperative treatment,” the statement from Subbiah Viswanathan, Chief Operating Officer of Apollo Hospitals said.
