The prolonged agitation by JAT community in Haryana seems to have yielded desired results. The Haryana Cabinet has today approved the Jat reservation bill. This bill will soon turn out into a legislation after it is approved by the assembly. The decision has taken just a day after the JAT leaders has threatened the government, that they are ready for a fresh agitation. JAT community leaders have been demanding a separate reservation for them under the BC quota.
The government seem to heed their wish. The bill has intended to provide reservation to Jats under a newly created category for backward classes (BC-3). But it’s not just JATS that are going to be benefited with the bill. Four other castes in the state were included in the list to be beneficiaries. This bill is likely to be approved by the ongoing budget session of the assembly, and could certainly halt the agitation of JATs’ for a while! Minute details of the bill were yet to be disclosed.
