4 Vacant Rajya Sabha seats still left

With the General Elections over the Election Commissin is left with one last task of getting 4 Rajya Sabha seats filled. The Election Commission of India has issued a notification for the filling up of the 4 vacant seats of Rajya. There are 2 vacant seats from Odisha, while one vacancy each from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu quota. The last date for filing the nominations would be June 23, while the withdrawal of nominations is permitted until June 26. The elections for the mentioned 4 RS seats will be held on July 3. The entire process will be completed by July 5 is what has been told by official sources.
Union Minister Nirmala Sitaraman is likely to file for the Rajya Sabha seat from Andhra Pradesh which fell vacant after the death of senior Congress Leader N Janardhan Reddy who passed away. Rumours were that Mr Narendra Modi wanted to give actor Pawan Kalyan a seat from Karnataka , but he refused as he was not interested in a full-fledged commitment to politics as yet and was keen on strengthening his party cadre and completing his film assignments before taking the plunge.
