Mammootty wins his record 7th Kerala State Award

Mammootty, the veteran actor and legend of Indian Cinema won record 7th Kerala State Award for Best Actor at 55th State Film Awards. He crossed Mohanlal count of 6 awards with this. In Bramayugam, he played the role of a Chathan - a demon, and showcased his prowess to carry any role even at the age of 74.


He previously won 3 National Film Awards for his incredible acting performances. After Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, he won the Best Actor, again for his different performance that frightened many in the horror thriller.


Further, Manjummel Boys, has swept technical awards and Best Film, Best direction for Chidambaram S Poduval. Shoubin Shahir won Best Character Artist and romantic comedy Premalu best popular film, award. Shamla Hamza won Best Actor Female for Feminchi Fathima.


Prakash Raj has headed the jury committee and the awards highlight the significant innovation that has entered into Malayalam Cinema has young blood dominated the list with oldest veteran joining them in this new-age phenomenon.
