Megastar Chiranjeevi and blockbuster director Anil Ravipudi have come together for the first time for a thorough family entertainer Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. The movie released today with a positive buzz as Bheems Ceciroleo music turned out to be a plus. Victory Venkatesh cameo also added more interest for the film and let's discuss about it in detail.
Plot:
Shankara Vara Prasad (Chiranjeevi) is the chief security officer of Home Minister (Sharat Saxena) and his capabilities are appreciated all over. Such an efficient officer is a divorcee and his ex-wife, Sasirekha (Nayanthara) is the India's Richest Business Women. Her father (Sachin Khedekar) breaks them apart. Shankar misses his children and he knows that their mother and grandfather turned them against him.
He decides to take vacation leave and spend time with his children, who are in Dehradun Boarding School. While he does win their hearts as their PET sir, Sasirekha takes them away from him. He is assigned the role to save his father-in-law and family from threat. What will he do to save his personal crisis and achieve professional success too? Watch the film to know more.
Analysis:
Megastar Chiranjeevi worked hard on himself to appear more elegant than his previous films and his efforts show. His comic timing and dialogue delivery is better than then and also, his energy levels. He did give it his best and many scenes work because of his magic.
But Venkatesh's highly anticipated cameo and the on-screen presence of both the big stars in same frame doesn't really resonate as much as it should. While the actor is not at fault the problem lies in writing as his portions feel unnecessary extension than necessary for film.
Even the editing pattern to make both the big stars appear at the same time on screen and similar fight steps also doesn't give a high that we normally anticipate. Still, their energy will give fans some good moments. Nayanthara, Sachin Khedekar, Catherine Tresa and others did their roles well enough.
The problem lies in Anil Ravipudi sticking to his own format of F2 and Sankrantiki Vasthunnam and not trying anything new. Even to say that he gave Megastar his deserved comeback, it doesn't feel so. To an extent, the comic timing of the legend works and his energy elevates but Anil did nothing special from his side.
Taking storyline similar to Tulasi, Viswasam, and adding similar sort of scenes like in Main Hoon Naa, Petta and few others, doesn't make it smart. Cinematography and editing are sub-par. The movie works to an extent in first half as Chiranjeevi gives his best there are no moments that truly bring house down.
Music by Bheems Ceciroleo is good and his songs are enjoyable. He did his best in elevating sequences but at places he could do nothing too. Still, his work stands out. Overall, the movie needed much more imaginative efforts from Anil and team to truly make it memorable. It remains as a one-time watch at best.
Bottomline:
Not as fun as Sankrantiki Vasthunnam but a one time watch.
Rating: 2.75/5

What Really Happened to Jana Nayagan at Censors?
Publish Date:Jan 10, 2026
The highly anticipated Tamil political thriller Jana Nayagan, starring Thalapathy Vijay, has found itself at the center of a significant controversy, sparking widespread debate across the Indian film industry. Slated for a major Pongal/Republic Day release, the film’s run-in with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has raised serious questions about creative freedom and the evolving landscape of film censorship in India.
Sources close to the production indicate that the CBFC flagged several scenes and dialogues in Jana Nayagan, deeming them "politically sensitive" and potentially "inciting" due to their strong critique of contemporary governance and political figures. While specific details of the objectionable content remain under wraps, it is understood that the film's narrative directly challenges certain government policies and practices, a common theme in Vijay's recent blockbusters.
The CBFC reportedly demanded extensive cuts and modifications, which the filmmakers, including director and producers, initially resisted, arguing that the suggested changes would compromise the film's core message and artistic integrity. This standoff quickly escalated, drawing in prominent filmmakers and industry veterans. Director Ram Gopal Varma publicly condemned the CBFC's actions, calling them an infringement on free speech and artistic expression.
He questioned the arbitrary nature of such demands, highlighting a perceived increase in scrutiny for politically charged films. The controversy has ignited a broader discussion within the industry regarding the powers of the CBFC and the need for greater transparency and clearer guidelines. As Jana Nayagan navigates this turbulent path, its fate at the censors could set a precedent for future political cinema in India.
