A terrorist group hijacks Delhi bound Star-jet flight with hundred and odd souls on it from Chennai airport, but does an emergency landing at Tirupathi airport due to a technical snag. A central minister, a film star, a doctor, a retired army officer, a Pakistani small kid ailing with heart problem and her parents, a Christian father are among the passengers. Home secretary Vishwanath (Prakash Raj), National Security Advisor and other top officials reach Tirupathi airport. The terrorists put forth their demand for release of their leader Yousuf Khan who was captured a couple of years ago by NSG Commandos led by Major Ravi (Nagarjuna). Though Nagarjuna also arrives at the spot and seeks permission for a commando operation, the government doesn't permit him and buys time in negotiations with the terrorists.
Analysis :
The very plot of a hijack drama is new to the Telugu screens and its director Radha Mohan deserves the credit for making it palatable to the audience with his deft handling of the movie. The movie starts casually with different individuals getting ready for boarding the to be hijacked flight and picks up momentum once they are airborne. From there onwards the narration races from frame to frame, keeping the attention of the audience glued to the screen. Even in the flashback sequences, the director has succeeded in maintaining the same tempo. Nagarjuna's performance is stupendous. A slim and agile Nagarjuna looks electrifying and graceful as a military commando on the screen. As usual Prakash Raj ahs put all his experience and acumen in his role, though not a lengthy one, as a bureaucrat. Amidst the high tension hijack drama, the script also has a place to take a dig at our so called 'shining stars' through the characters 'shining star Chandrakanth' (Prithvi), his co-passenger and an ardent fan Subba Rao. Bramhanandam's comedy isn't distracting, but gives the audience a brief relief only to get them again engrossed in the movie. Another actor deserving commendation is the one who played brilliantly the role of dreaded terrorist Yousuf Khan.
TeluguOne Perspective :
There are no songs in the movie. Excellent background score by Pravin Mani makes us forget about the lack of songs. The camera work by cinematographer K V Guhan is fantastic. Working on a digital RED camera, he succeeded well in capturing the interiors of a plane and ATC office in different and innovative angles. Brisk editing and cut to the exact length without any lags throughout the movie. And a commendable job by art director Kathir. The replicas of Tirupathi Runway, ATC office and interior of a plane erected at Ramoji Film City by him give the impression that the flick has been shot at the original locations. After a long time we have seen a neat and clean, purely screenplay based movie with ample space for the artistes to perform. It's wholeheartedly recommendable for watching.
