Tollywood Plans For Tussle-free Titles

Telugu cinema industry, which was hitherto bereft with 'title clashes' like, Khaleja-Mahesh Khaleja and Katthi-Kalyanram Katthi, has finally come out with a plan to prevent duplication of film titles. The APFCC will now register new titles ony. It has set a 90 days validity period for newly registered titles. Within these 90 days, the producer has to show proof that at least 7 days shooting pertaining to the titled film has been done, otherwise the reservation stands cancelled.

APFCC president Rama Subba Reddy says ' It would certainly discourage the namesake registrations. It was quite difficult for us, when two producers came with nearly same titles like Happy Journey and Journey." Previously a nominal registration fee of 500 was charged for each title and a producer was entitled to register up to 40 titles under 20 banners, paving way for exploitation.

A Telugu producer can register titles at three places - in Chennai, at two Chambers in Hyderabad and in Mumbai. By the way, it's learnt that the recent title clash between Pawan Kalyan's "Teen Maar" (Khushiga) with that title holder another producer S S Rao, has been settled through negotiations.
