Why is our great Tollywood not getting enough space and recognition at the national level? Time and again we witness no Telugu cinema bagging a national award when they are announced. Why is this scenario witnessed consistently for an industry, which is the second largest industry in India?

 

 

Telugu cinema industry is the only industry in India to win handful of Guinness World Records for cinema, including records for acting in the same role the most times by an actor (N. T. Rama Rao as Lord Krishna, 18 times), the most number of films directed by a female director (Vijaya Nirmala), the most films produced by one person (D. Ramanaidu), the most number of songs sung by a male singer (S.P.Balasubramanyam), the most same-language films acted by a person (Brahmanandam), etc....yet no NATIONAL AWARD for commercial movies.

 

 

We are churning out more than 170 films every year yet we are unable to strike a chord at the National level for an award in the feature film category. These results once again expose the dearth of quality directors, gutsy producers and superior artistes. The National jury chaired JP Dutta, watched 5 Telugu movies Param Veera Chakra, Prasthanam, Broker and Ganga Putrudu but none of them could make it to the award. Remember, all these films failed miserably in Tollywood. It was only 'Advaitham', made by Vijaypal Reddy, bagged the best educational film award in non-feature film category.

 

 

 

Tollywood is the only industry that's concerned and confined to 1st day and 2nd day collections of the movie. Our great heroes enjoy a demigod status but the blind spot is that they never ever get a national award. Poor heroes!

 

So who should be blamed for this?

 

The audience for not appreciating good films? Or directors, producers and heroes for not making proper films? Shoot your answers!
