Suriya watched Sathyam Sundaram and hugged me: Karthi

My elder brother Suriya watched my first film and praised me. Now he has seen 'Sathyam Sundaram' and expressed his pride in my performance, giving me a wonderful compliment.

This film wouldn't exist without either me or Arvind Swamy.

This is a heartwarming movie filled with good humor. It's a must-watch for everyone, especially when enjoyed with family.

"Sathyam Sundaram" is an upcoming wholesome entertainer featuring Karthi and Arvind Swamy in lead roles, directed by C. Prem Kumar, known for the acclaimed film "96." Suriya and Jyothika are producing it under the banner of 2D Entertainment. The promotional content released so far has received an excellent response, and Asian Suresh Entertainments will release the film in Telugu. The movie is set for a grand release on September 28. In this context, hero Karthi shared insights about the film at a press conference.

Regarding how the "Sathyam Sundaram" project began, Karthi explained, "This is Prem Kumar's film after '96,' which has a huge following. My friend mentioned that Prem had a story for me two years ago, but he hesitated to share it. I reached out to him, and he eventually let me read the script. It felt like an excellent novel, and I was moved to tears in many places. I wondered how one could write such a story. I admire K. Viswanath's films, but such stories are rare these days. When I read this one, I knew it deserved to be made. It's a story that answers many of our questions. I encouraged my elder brother to read it, and he loved it, saying only I could find such stories. He was fully supportive of the project."

"This film explores the bond between two characters akin to cousins. It's a story that everyone will want to watch, and Arvind Swamy's character fits perfectly. He became very emotional after reading the script. Everyone who has read this story wants to be part of the project. Like '96,' the story unfolds over the course of one night, providing a unique experience for family audiences. The audience will enjoy a feeling reminiscent of 'Sagara Sangamam,' a film by K. Viswanath, which was a commercial blockbuster. This movie captures that essence."

When asked about the core element that impressed him in the story, Karthi replied, "Unconditional love. We receive unconditional love from our families, and this film beautifully portrays that theme. It is rooted in our culture and traditions."

"The film contains emotional content infused with great humor, leading to many happy tears. There’s a beautiful emotion similar to what you experience in 'Oopiri.' It's a story that evokes such joy."

"I was surprised to learn that this story has real-life connections to Arvind Swamy. He was born and raised in a village, and his character in this film feels tailor-made for him. The chemistry between our characters is truly special."

Why did the Tamil version release a day earlier than the Telugu version?

"There is 'Devara,' releasing in Telugu and is a big movie. It’s better for our film to come out later in the day. The two films are very different. Ours is more of a film like 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu' and Devara is full of warfare (laughs)."

How would you describe your character?

"My character is innocent and runs a saree shop in a small village. He has no expectations in life and is quite talkative. It’s a very simple and beautiful role."

What can you say about Govind Vasanth's music?

"Govind Vasanth is a talented composer. After hearing the story, he mentioned that this film would challenge his abilities. Every song is meaningful, and the background music evokes nostalgia, taking us back to our childhood."

How are the dialogues and camera work in the film?

"The dialogues feel fresh and natural, and the camera movements are very organic, making everything feel lifelike. The audience will experience genuine emotions on screen. If you watch this movie with your family, you’ll definitely enjoy it."

How was it working with C. Prem Kumar?

"He is a very organized director who plans everything in advance. He has a great understanding of storytelling, and the words he wrote were wonderful. The feeling I had when I read the story was the same when I performed."

Is Suriya involved in this project?

"Until the film is produced, my elder brother won’t be involved. There was one night when Rolex came to shoot, and everyone gathered to watch. We took a break from filming and then resumed (laughs)."

What did Suriya think of your performance?

"Surya saw my first film Paruthiveeran and hugged me. After watching this movie, he expressed his pride and complimented my performance, saying I did brilliantly. He also once again hugged me"

What about Asian Suresh Entertainments releasing the film in Telugu?

"I was surprised when Sunil didn’t ask me to do this film initially. He is very happy to be involved in its release, and I trust his judgment."
