Laapataa Ladies is India official entry for Oscars 2025?

Top actor Aamir Khan produced an intriguing film titled "Laapataa Ladies," directed by his ex-wife Kiran Rao. The film received critical acclaim and emerged as the most-watched Indian film on Netflix. Recently, it was announced by the Film Federation of India that "Laapataa Ladies" is India’s official entry for the Oscars, outpacing other contenders.

The Film Federation of India has finalized and announced a total of 29 films, with "Laapataa Ladies" surpassing notable titles, including Ranbir Kapoor’s "Animal," to secure its place in the Oscar race. Other films in contention include the Malayalam film "Aattam" and the Anne's award-winning "All We Imagine As Light." A 13-member selection committee, led by Assamese director Jahnu Barua, voted unanimously for "Laapataa Ladies."

Additionally, the list features Tamil films such as "Maharaja," "Kalki 2898 AD," "Hanuman," and "Mangalavaram." Other Hindi films on the list include "Swatantraya Veer Savarkar" and "Article 370." In a recent interview, Kiran Rao expressed her dream of seeing "Laapataa Ladies" reach the Oscars, highlighting her hopes for the film's success.
