HC issues stay on Karthi's Vaa Vaathiyaar release
Updated : Dec 11, 2025
Madras High Court has issued stay on Akhanda 2 release before 4th December and the movie producers took time of a week to release it. Now, Vaa Vaathiyaar starring Karthi is similar legal troubles. The Court has issued stay on the film's release as producer KE Gnanavelraja needs to clear pending dues to a financier.
The movie was supposed to release on 5th December, but makers have decided to release it on 12th December, after last minute hurdles. Now, a financier Arjunlal Sunderdas, has gone to court stating that from 2014, Gnanavelraja has not been clearing his amount. Apparently, the producer took Rs.10.35 crores back in the year.
He explained to court that in these 11 years, Gnanavelraja did not pay any interest and the total including everything amounts to Rs.21.78 crores which needs to be settled immediately. The High Court has stated that the film cannot be released without producer clearing the amount.
Even though Gnanavelraja offered to pay Rs.3.75 crores by night and immovable properties documents as assurance, Court did not think such a settlement is probable. Well, Karthi and Krithi Shetty have been promoting the film in Telugu and Tamil states from past one week but looks like cinema will be postponed for sure.
