Sreenu Vaitla, one of the top most directors of Telugu Cinema has been struggling from quite a few years to make a big comeback. Post Aagadu, he did not find the success that he has been waiting for. Now, the director has joined hands with Macho Star Gopichand and both need a huge blockbuster at the moment. Will the Universe help them to find such a success with Viswam? Let's discuss in detail.
Plot:
Gopi(Gopichand) falls in love with Sameera(Kavya Thapar). He files down to Hyderabad from Italy to meet her and convince her family members for their marriage. They all go to Kashmir and there Gopi keeps saving a young girl, Darshana. She is constantly under the attack of Kureshi Gang. Kureshi conceals his identity as a Pakistani and lives in Kashmir as a Hindu and recruits young boys as terrorists for his organisation. Why is he attacking Darshana? Why is Gopi saving her? What is true identity of Gopi? Watch the movie to know more.
Analysis :
Gopichand as a performer proves again in this film, too. His efforts in pulling off action sequences and comedy scenes are once again visible. His ease in performing romantic scenes and change in body language according to his co-stars is incredible. He carried the film on his shoulders. His scenes with Prudhvi, Vennela Kishore leave us cracking up. Kavya Thapar looked gorgeous and Naresh, Pragati, Mukesh Rushi, VTV Ganesh, Shaam also performed well.
Even though the writing is very generic and dated, the comedy scenes work well in the first hour. Sreenu Vaitla sticked to his guns and tried to deliver a film that is more or more less same to his earlier films. His command in comedy scenes did appear to be back in this one in comparison with Mister and Amar Akbar Antony. Yet, his dependency on cliches did not bode well for this film.
We always feel that we did watch this film somewhere throughout. To mesmerise audiences he used comedy and to an extent made an engaging first hour. When the plot opens in second hour and all twists are revealed, it once again falls back into slightly boring zone. With comedy that worked in Dookudu, Baadshah kind of films, he did try to elevate the predictable proceedings.
Music by Chaitan Bharadwaj doesn't really stay with us after watching the film. Cinematography and production design are good according to the screenplay. Editing and VFX could have been better.
TeluguOne Perspective :
The comedy scenes work to an extent and while there is nothing new to look forward too, these comedy scenes keep us engaged. So, we can say that even though Sreenu Vaitla is not truly back, he has delivered a film that works. A light hearted entertainer for festival weekend.
