Released On:May 1, 2009
It's a simple story consisting of the war between two smuggling groups. Deva (Surya) is the faithful follower of his god father-like Prabhu. The gang mainly smuggles diamonds from Africa. The opposite gang belonging to Kamalesh (Akashdeep) too is involved in this. He employs his man Chitti (Jagan) as a covert in Deva's group. One day Deva comes to know the truth about Chitti. The silent war between the two groups converts into a direct one. Who stands as the winner in the end - forms the story line of the film.
Analysis :
The beginning of the film shows the elements of a blockbuster. But the sloppy second half tests the patience of the audience. The director tries to show the villain as powerful as Surya (the hero with star image). But Akashdeep fails to reach the expectations. The catch and drop sequences between the villain and the hero troubles the pace and the audience. Some scenes of the English films like Blood Diamond, Catch Me If You Can – are directly used. The over usage of the reverse screenplay is yet another minus point for the film.
TeluguOne Perspective :
Action: Surya is one of the few seasoned actors of the southern region. His dedication towards his profession reflects in every frame. Already films like “Ghazini, Surya, S/o Krishnan” proved this. In this flick too Surya impresses the audience with his acting nuances. In this flick Surya looks good in different hair styles. Tamanna added the element of glamour. The credit may go to the cinematographer. The villain Akashdeep had a poker face that impresses none. His acting is inferior to that of Surya. Even the director failed to elevate the status of the villain. But Prabhu, who acted as the mafia don did justice to his role. Even Jagan, as Chitti successfully supplies comedy.Music: Good. Though a little odd with Tamil element, the audio is sure to be yet another feather in the cap of the music director Harris Jairaj.Cinematography: Kudos for the cinematographer M.S.Prabhu . The scenic beauty of South Africa comes alive on the screen. The chasing scenes remind one the scenes of Hollywood films. This department occupies first place of the film's highlights.Editing: Anthony is a good technician. Even his editing skills couldn't save the film from its sloppy second half. One should blame it on the director.Action: Kanal Kannan's composing of action scenes is excellent. Mainly the chasing scenes in South Africa needs special mention. Surya did his best in these scenes too. These action scenes prove that our films too are on par with those in Hollywood films.Art: ExcellentWatch it if you are either a fan of Surya or a lover of action films. A little care in the making could have left yet another blockbuster film for Surya. Watchable once for the sake of Cinematography, action scenes and Surya.
