Mandakini (Mumaith) is a successful novel writer. She achieves fame with her novel “Erra Gulabilu.” A boxer gets murdered. He gets killed in the same way as it has been described in the book. Mandakini is being seen as a suspect in the murder as the murder have got a connection with the ancient martial art form ‘Marmakala’ that is described in detail in her novel. The case is assigned to the shrewd policeman Bose (Siva Balaji) and he starts his investigation. Even he suspects Mandakini to be the killer but then she has to be let free since none of the interrogation tests prove her to be a criminal. She is proved innocent even in the lie detector test. Still Bose suspects her to be the culprit. After all, who is this Mandakini? Is she the real criminal? If she is innocent who is the real culprit? The questions are to be answered on the silverscreen.
Analysis :
Though the film happens to be a take from the Hollywood movie ‘Basic Instinct’, it is by no means a match to it. It is essential that for a suspense thriller to create an impact, the script must be handled deftly and that was missing here. The screenplay could not create the tension in the movie. The film is poor in technical aspects also.
TeluguOne Perspective :
Mumaith Khan has done much better in this one and she seems to be learning the nuances of acting steadily. Hero Siva Balaji fails to impress the audience as the police officer. He could not fit the image of a cop as he looked soft. Shraddha Das had little scope for acting. The comic league of Krishna Bhagavan, Kondavalasa Lakshman Rao, Venu Madhav, Jeeva, Vijaya Rangaraju failed in providing the comedy. Music: Average. Re-recording is Good. Editing: It is the only department that gets the laurels. Editing is neat. Action: Average. Though this film is not unique, the choice is yours to watch it or leave it.
