“The Ghazi Attack” was a big turnaround for the Telugu Film Industry. Apart from commercial flicks, there are directors in the industry who think different & are capable of writing variety scripts “Ghazi” proved. Telugu audience support good movie it further proved. Sankalp Reddy, who had made a directorial debut with ‘Ghazi’, brought the national award for the Telugu film industry. After ‘Ghazi’, director Sankalp is back with “Antariksham”. Varun Tej, a hero who is good at choosing variety stories has been roped in for this movie. Does the movie with space background attack the audience? Let us read the review.
Story:
Dev (Varun Tej) is a scientist & a former employee in space center. He leaves the job he loves due to some personal issues. After 5 years, scientist Riya (Aditi Rao Hydari) searches for him and meets him. Satellite Mihira, deviates from the expected path & the space center wants Dev to resolve the problem. Dev who initially disagrees, finally accepts Riya’s request. Dev, Riya and two others go into the space. What happens there? What issues do they experience while trying to rectify Mihira? Forms the movie story
Analysis :
We surely have to congratulate the Director who once again has come up with a path breaking cinema after ‘Ghazi’. We remember certain Hollywood movies while watching ‘Antariksham’. But that does not mean Sankalp has copied from Hollywood movies, rather we can say that he has been inspired by them since movies with such concepts are more in Hollywood.
Without wasting too much time, the director enters into the story very quickly. He has introduced the characters and narrated the story in the first half while the entire second half is in the space. Thus the scenes seems to be stretched there. Since the sentiment scenes are very less, the movie seems to be very serious. Not many thrilling moments, missing of logics in certain places form the minus points in the second half. In certain parts the VFX is not very good, however Sankalp has done a decent job with VFX with limited budget.
Plus Points:
Movie Theme & Taking
New genre movie
Varun Tej, Lavanya, Aditi’s acting
VFX (Except A Few Scenes)
Samayama Song, Rerecording
Minus Points:
A few scenes which are not logical
Weak sentiment scenes
Stretchy second half
Performances:
Varun Tej passed the test as an actor while performing Dev’s role. What does it require to do the character? How should a scientist be? Varun Tej has done a good home work. Lavanya Tripati’s role is less. But she did her job well. Aditi Rao did not show more gestures due to the limitations of her role. Her performance is good. Raja, Satyadev, Srinivas Needalaala, Rahman and others have also done a decent work.
TeluguOne Perspective :
There may be audience who might criticize the movie for not having any commercial elements in it, but after watching the movie they will realize that - movie is not just a mix of songs along with a few routine scenes.
The movie could have been directed a little better but the effort of the director must surely be appreciated. Only if we welcome such new movies, there will be movies with new concepts in the Tollywood industry. Routine movies will decrease.
