Telangana government has issued a GO ordering change of name of Acharya NG Ranga’s Agricultural University as Professor late Jayashankar Agricultural University. AP government is objecting Telangana government’s decision. AP Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy, ministers Pullarao, Narayana and few others have met Governor Narasimhan today and complained him over this issue. They remind him about courts repeatedly warning the Telangana government over several issues. They asked Governor to order Telangana government revoke its decision of changing the university name. However, Telangana government may consider the objections are nothing but intruding its sovereign space.
Earlier, CM Chandrababu Naidu has proposed changing Shamshabad (Rajiv Gandhi) international airport name back to its original name NTR International airport for which civil aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has immediately agreed. If so, Telangana government may also raise objections, in case he tries to change the name upon AP government’s insistence. Hence, both governments should try to resolve such issues through dialogue like Speakers of both states have amicably settled the issues related to sharing of chambers in Assembly building.
