Abishan Jeevinth debuted with a highly appreciated and sucessful blockbuster Tourist Family as a director. Now, he debuted as an actor with his film, With Love, alongside a seasoned Malayalam sensational actress, Anaswara Rajan. Soundarya Rajinikanth has produced the film and it released, yesterday. Let's discuss about the film, in detail.
Plot:
Sathyaa (Abishan Jeevinth) is a well-performing designer, who is reclusive from his family and doesn't want to marry even when his sister forces him. But his elder sister makes him meet Monisha (Anaswara Rajan) without giving any details or a chance to refuse to meet her. He meets her and after a miscommunication with another girl, they start a cool conversation.
They understand that they are some same school and he is her senior. Both talk about their serious school crushes Anisha and Balaji, respectively. Monisha is a successful influencer but Sathyaa doesn't have any idea about it. She proposes to him a plan to meet their old school mates, track their crushes. What happens next? Will they unite or find their crushes as better life partners? Watch the movie to know more.
Analysis:
Abishan Jeevinth is good as a performer. He is believable in young school boy look and as a matured person ready for marriage. His eyes speak volumes and his expressions are spot on at all places. He has his own charm and screen presence that is pleasant to watch in this love story.
Anaswara Rajan is a revelation for Telugu and Tamil audiences who did not see her Malayalam films. She is charming in this bubbly role away from her slightly serious ones in Malayalam and effortless. She carries the dynamics of relationship on her shoulders with absolute ease. At times, more than Abishan, it is Anaswara who adds necessary intricate wit to the scenes.
We can say that both of them complicated each other well in many scenes and their chemistry makes this slightly routine plotline, a fresh and enjoyable film. We see how their journey progresses but at places it feels like there is a rush to other scene to keep the audiences interested rather than building few more moments among the leads.
This could have made the movie much better and even more special with such lively characters at play. Production values and technical standards are good enough for the film without much innovation. Still, the basics have been perfectly well executed for the film to showcase a love story to audiences With Love.
It is not a groundbreaking film or a considerably emotion heavy film about nostalgia but it offers moments that feels honest, realistic and fun to watch. While many story beats are predictable still, the chemistry, realism and believability presents the movie as a good watch from Debutant Madhan.
Bottomline:
An enjoyable rom-com that offers simple and heartfelt moments.
Rating: 2.75/5
