Koffee Curse: Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika face backlash
One cannot really determine how two people perceive their relationship in private but when it comes into public eye, it does attract scrutiny. Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna have become the new couple to face this scrutiny after Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, in previous season of Koffee With Karan. Several people did name it as "Koffee Curse", as celebrity couples do end up facing much wider scrutiny than one can anticipate. What might work for a couple could come across as problematic to others. Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna have appeared in the season opener of Koffee With Karan Season 9, the final one. They shared that Vijay asked her to ask him to marry her for 100 times and she did pursue him for over an year, before they finally found themselves tying the knot. Vijay explained that he took time to get around the idea of marriage and living together while Rashmika kept bringing up the topic all the time. Later, Vijay stated that he got "so used to se.." and she makes him "so comfortable", that he cannot think about going back to bachelor life. Rashmika always kept stating that he is very cute, very friendly but some of his admissions did seem unnecessary and not really candid but did come across as "flexing". So, the backlash is severe on the X with many sharing the clips and calling him, "Red Flag", calling the couple - "Two people in love with Vijay" and they are even calling Vijay, "narcissistic, too self-pleased, bad example of self-love" and calling Rashmika as "too much in love, too submissive, weird and mad." As they say, for every couple it is their own, we cannot really talk about the "idealness" behind if they are perfect for eachother or not. But in public medium, it is important to be aware of how things can be portrayed and maintain some decorum to not be "too candid" or "too artificial". In any case, Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika seem to be attracting more criticism, backlash than "romantic ideal couple", "couple goals", "cute couple" kind of reactions which they probable might have expected. Prabhas: A Historic Icon of Indian Cinema
Prabhas began his career as a star kid, carrying forward the legacy of Rebel Star Krishnam Raju when he made his debut with Eeshwar. Over two decades later, he stands among the most influential icons of Telugu cinema, having taken the industry's reach and ambitions to an unprecedented level. His transformation into a pan-India superstar through SS Rajamouli's Baahubali films marked a historic turning point for both his career and Indian cinema. His journey places him alongside the legends who shaped Telugu cinema across generations. NTR and ANR popularised the industry through their landmark performances and films like Mayabazaar and Devdas. Krishna pushed filmmaking boundaries, Chiranjeevi redefined stardom, and Nagarjuna expanded the industry's horizons with films like Shiva, Geethanjali, Annamayya, Mass and Don. Each took Telugu cinema a step forward in their era. Baahubali 2 became the first Telugu film to cross the ₹1,000-crore worldwide gross milestone, showcasing the full potential of the Indian box office. The film emerged as a massive blockbuster across the country, establishing an extraordinary pan-India market, with Kerala being a notable exception to its overwhelming dominance. As the face of this cinematic phenomenon, Prabhas deserves immense credit for translating Rajamouli's ambitious vision onto the screen with remarkable conviction. His five-year commitment to the franchise, maintaining his physique and carrying the expectations of an entire industry, was central to bringing characters like Shiva and Amarendra Baahubali to life. Prabhas continued to push boundaries with Salaar and Kalki 2898 AD, demonstrating his willingness to headline ambitious projects across genres. Kalki 2898 AD further expanded the possibilities for Indian science fiction, while Salaar reinforced his ability to command audiences through larger-than-life action dramas. Not every experiment has delivered the expected results. Films like Saaho, Radhe Shyam, Adipurush and The Raja Saab reflect the risks he has taken in pursuing different cinematic worlds and storytelling approaches. Yet, Prabhas continues to back ambitious ideas rather than settle into a predictable formula. With Fauzi and Spirit, he is exploring fresh territory for him. Sandeep Reddy Vanga is promising Spirit to redefine action dramas for Indian cinema. Kalki 2 further raises anticipation to take VFX and production design to International Standards. Happy Birthday to Prabhas, keep soaring high and taking cinema to more heights. Disclaimer: The news article is written based on information shared by various sources. Kona Venkat reveals that Kaaka has no romance
Megastar Chiranjeevi will not have a separate romantic track or a conventional heroine in his upcoming film Kaaka, according to writer Kona Venkat. Speaking to TeluguOne, Kona clarified that the Bobby Kolli directorial focuses on the transformation of a gangster into a man running a fisheries business, rather than a conventional commercial narrative built around romance. Chiranjeevi plays Kadiri Kalidas, a gangster who eventually becomes Satyamurthy and runs a fisheries business. The story explores his journey and the circumstances behind this transformation, with the makers focusing on the central character and his world. Anaswara Rajan plays a pivotal role in the film as a young woman whom Chiranjeevi's character protects like a guardian. Their relationship is said to be an important part of the narrative, but it does not follow the conventional romantic track typically associated with a Megastar film. Directed by Bobby Kolli, Kaaka is being mounted as an action entertainer with a distinct character-driven storyline. Kona Venkat's clarification puts an end to speculation about a separate romantic pairing for Chiranjeevi, while highlighting the emotional bond between the lead character and Anaswara Rajan's role. Rajini's Jailer 2: Five things that make it unmissable
Superstar Rajinikanth is returning as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian in Jailer 2, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. With the film gearing up for its worldwide theatrical release on October 15, expectations are high for another action-packed entertainer featuring Rajini, a star-studded cast and Anirudh Ravichander's music. Here are five things audiences can look forward to. 1. Rajinikanth's return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian The biggest attraction is undoubtedly Rajinikanth reprising his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The sequel is expected to explore his struggle to cover up his identity and then attack the entire syndicate of smugglers. 2. Nelson's blend of action and comedy Nelson Dilipkumar established a distinct style with Jailer, balancing violent action with deadpan humour and quirky characters. The sequel offers another opportunity for the director to combine these elements, keeping the narrative entertaining without losing its intensity. 3. Star-Studded Cameos and New Characters The first film generated considerable excitement with appearances by Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and other prominent actors. Jailer 2 brings back several familiar faces while introducing new additions, including Vidya Balan, S. J. Suryah and Mithun Chakraborty. Hrithik Roshan, Santhanam, Vijay Sethupathi are expected to appear in big cameos as well. 4. Anirudh Ravichander's BGM and special Rajini moments Anirudh's background score played a crucial role in amplifying Rajinikanth's screen presence in the first instalment. His return is one of the most anticipated aspects of the sequel, with audiences expecting pulsating action themes, impactful score variations and mass moments designed for theatrical celebrations. 5. High stakes action and elevation moments The original film introduced audiences to Muthuvel Pandian's hidden connections and his past in the criminal underworld. The sequel is expected to expand this world with new conflicts, giving enough chances to produce high stakes action and Rajini style elevation moments on screen making a perfect commercial package. Produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 has been one of the most anticipated and awaited films in recent times. Anirudh seemed very emotional and particularly happy with the film. While the buzz is not skyrocketing, there is enough positive aura surrounding the film. Let's wait and see how it all comes together on big screens. Should Jailer 2 have gotten hikes in AP?
Jailer 2 starring Superstar Rajinikanth and many big stars in cameos, is releasing on 15th October. The film's distribution rights have been acquired by Naga Vamsi in Telugu States. He applied for Rs.50 and Rs.75 single screen and multiplex, respectively, ticket hikes in Andhra Pradesh for the film. The government granted hikes but that has become a huge discussion on social media. People have been criticising the decision to give hikes to films just because the cost of production is high. Some have started blaming SS Rajamouli for starting this trend with Baahubali and making it a common practice. While ticket price hike is a necessity or not is debatable, current issue is with even a dubbed film getting hikes. Kantara Part-1, KGF 2, Toxic have been given hikes and the practice is generating fear among the social media users about how hikes have been normalised and fan wars are happening when a film is not awarded. Vijay Deverakonda fans are posting continuously asking Mythri Movie Makers, producers of his Ranabaali, to ask for hikes. Mythri have avoided hikes for Ravi Teja's Irumudi and it helped them to earn triple profits. While Ranabaali is made on a huge budget, it doesn't have similar buzz like Irumudi or Jailer 2. In fact, Vijay had to openly state that there has been paid negativity against him and his film, asking people to prefer Jailer 2 over his film, releasing on 16th October. Still, the movie is not managing to get the same hype as some of his previous films commanded. This ongoing debate is helping film to be in the news but still the issue about producers, distributors using their connections to get some sort of hikes for the films is being discussed broadly. People are frustrated highly about TFI producers and distributors treating them as cash cows and some way or the other pushing looking to make hikes for any big film, a big norm. They are fearing how much will ticket costs be for Varanasi, Spirit and other upcoming biggies, if this trend pertains. Is Sai Abhyankkar restricted by Allu Arjun Raaka?
Sai Abhyankkar has been delivering banger after banger in Tamil Cinema after his debut. Dude, Karuppu and his themes for Raaka, OM have been highly popular with indie tracks. The news reports have come out stating that Sai Abhayyankar signed exclusivity contract with Sun Pictures for Raaka. According to this contract, he cannot sign another Telugu film until Allu Arjun's Raaka releases. By doing so, the makers want to keep the exclusivity and get better deals for audio rights state the reports. But in these social media times, these kind of contracts don't really make sense and work as much. Already, his songs for Tamil films have been released in Telugu becoming big hits, so, there won't be any sort of new exclusivity and also, Raaka is being made as a Pan-India film with more global stakes. While Sai's first direct film in Telugu can really work big way for producers, if they are making only Telugu regional film, this kind of film won't work. In any case, the sources close to Raaka team, did not confirm any such contract has been made. On the other hand, Sai could not accept Telugu projects as he is busy with more than 10 projects and hence, he is also waiting for Allu Arjun's film release which will open market for him even better. Atlee is directing the film and recently, the movie has created Guinness Record for the most actors participated in Motion capture at a time. Is mass image obsession damaging Nani's reputation?
Nani has been concentrating on increasing his mass hero image with action films. He starred in Saripodha Sanivaaram, HIT-3 and now, The Paradise. While Saripodha Sanivaaram did not really blast at the box office, it did work for Nani. But HIT-3 had good initial but encountered massive negativity for extreme violence. Audiences did not really enjoy the action sequences and movie did not really work at the level Nani anticipated it would. Now, The Paradise has good advance bookings and Day 1 with premieres, looks solid to collect over Rs.70 crores gross worldwide, highest for him ever but movie has achieved heavily mixed reports. More audiences are calling it a disaster with clueless second half while first half is decent enough. Director Srikanth Odela seems to narrated ideas but failed to execute them on screen. Nani kept pampering him and even supporting his vision outright. He even defended his behaviour as obsession with perfection. Currently though Srikanth is being trolled everywhere and the scenes from The Paradise are being shared on social media, already. Some are calling it as Nani's desperate attempt to prove to be a mass action hero but Nani condemned any such obsession and he is trying to feature in all genres. He even stated that post Bloody Romeo with Sujeeth, he has agreed to be part of a completely different film and he is not going to leave his family audiences base. But these bloody actioners does make audiences think twice before walking into theatres for his films which is not a case, at the moment. The extreme mixed reactions to the film, about how Anirudh Ravichander BGM is also not good seems to be effecting any future bookings at this point. We have to wait and see how this film does sustain over the coming days or will it crash. Some audiences and well-wishers of Nani are expecting him to give a better film, immediately, to wipe out any negativity of The Paradise for quick turnaround. NTR Trivikram Controversy: Are Skanda, Karthikeya and Murugan different deities?
A recent controversy surrounding NTR and Trivikram Srinivas' upcoming mythological adaptation has once again sparked a debate on the identity of Lord Murugan. While some social media users have claimed that Murugan is exclusively a Tamil deity and objected to his portrayal in a pan-Indian context, the descriptions found in Hindu scriptures present a much broader picture. The controversy arose because makers of the film used Adi Shankaracharya Hymm and then described, "Born in the North. Forged in the Heartland. Worshipped in the South. Now... A tale destined to belong to the universe." Born in the North became objectionable claiming that Murugan is Adi Tamilian and only Tamil deity. Let's look into the origin story of Lord Shiva's son and then come to a conclusion about the same. Across Hindu tradition, Lord Shiva's son is worshipped under many names—Skanda, Karthikeya, Kumara, Subrahmanya, Saravanabhava, Shanmukha and Murugan. These are not different gods but different names and forms of the same deity. The variations largely reflect language, regional traditions and specific aspects of his divine personality rather than separate identities. According to the Skanda Purana, the largest of the Mahapuranas and one named after the deity himself, Skanda is born to destroy the demon Tarakasura, whose boon made him invincible except to a son of Shiva. Since Shiva was immersed in deep penance after the death of Sati, the gods sought the union of Shiva and Parvati, leading to the birth of Skanda, the commander of the celestial army. The story is also narrated in the Shiva Purana, where Shiva's divine energy manifests as six sparks. These sparks are carried to the sacred reeds of Saravana, where six infants are nurtured by the Krittika maidens. Goddess Parvati later embraces the six children into one, giving rise to the six-faced deity known as Shanmukha. Because he was born in Saravana, he is called Saravanabhava. Since he was raised by the Krittikas, he is known as Karthikeya. As the son who embodies supreme spiritual knowledge, he is revered as Subrahmanya. Tamil literature gives Murugan an especially cherished place. Ancient Sangam works such as the Tirumurukarruppatai celebrate him as the guardian of the Tamil landscape, while later devotional classics like the Kanda Puranam and the hymns of Arunagirinathar deepened Murugan worship across Tamil Nadu. For millions of devotees, Murugan is deeply intertwined with Tamil culture, language and identity. At the same time, his worship has never been confined to one region. As Subrahmanya, he is revered in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala. As Kartikeya, he is worshipped in North and Eastern India. Major temples dedicated to him exist across the country, and his legends are found in Sanskrit Puranas that predate many regional retellings. His festivals, including Skanda Sashti and Thaipusam, are celebrated by devotees in India and across the world. Indian mythology has always evolved through regional storytelling. The same deity often carries different names, iconography and local traditions while remaining fundamentally the same divine figure. Krishna is celebrated differently in Mathura, Udupi and Manipur; Shiva is worshipped in countless forms across the country; similarly, Murugan, Skanda and Karthikeya represent different cultural expressions of one deity. As debates unfold around cinematic interpretations, the scriptural record makes one point clear: Murugan, Skanda, Karthikeya, Subrahmanya and Saravanabhava are names of the same son of Shiva, born to defeat Tarakasura. Regional devotion has enriched his legacy, but the Puranas describe him as a deity whose significance extends across the Hindu tradition rather than belonging exclusively to any one linguistic or geographic community. Radikaa Sparks The Question: Have We Forgotten How to Mourn?
The funeral of veteran filmmaker K. Bhagyaraj was meant to be a moment of remembrance. Instead, it has sparked a conversation about where society should draw the line between documenting an event and respecting human grief. Actor Radikaa Sarathkumar did not mince words as she criticised the paparazzi and bystanders who continued filming, taking selfies and pointing cameras at grieving family members despite repeated requests for privacy. Her statement that "compassion should come before content" has resonated far beyond the funeral itself. In the age of smartphones and instant social media updates, almost every public event is treated as content waiting to be consumed. Celebrity weddings, airport appearances, hospital visits and even funerals are relentlessly documented. The race to capture the "exclusive" moment often overshadows a basic human value—empathy. When cameras continue rolling in the face of visible grief, the focus shifts from paying respects to chasing engagement. Celebrities understand that public attention comes with their profession, but moments of personal loss deserve a different standard. A funeral is not a press conference or a promotional event. It is a family's final goodbye to a loved one. The presence of cameras may be inevitable, but restraint should be equally important. Radikaa's comments serve as a timely reminder that not everything needs to be recorded or shared. Sometimes, the most respectful thing a camera can do is stay switched off. As the boundaries between news, entertainment and social media continue to blur, her words underline a simple truth: humanity should never become secondary to content. Obsession proves that Audiences watch films in Theatres
One of the most common explanations being offered for underperforming films in recent years has been the rise of OTT platforms. Whenever footfalls drop or theatrical runs disappoint, the conversation quickly shifts towards changing audience habits and the comfort of watching content at home. But Obsession is turning that argument on its head. The Hollywood horror film is reportedly closing in on Rs.70–72 crore gross in India and has emerged as the second highest-grossing Hollywood horror release in the market. Only The Conjuring: Last Rites remains ahead after collecting around Rs.82–83 crore nett during its run, which translates to nearly Rs.100 crore gross. What makes Obsession’s performance remarkable is not just the final number — it is the manner in which the movie is attracting crowds to theatres. The film is continuing to rake in big moolah over weekends and sustaining occupancies despite having no established franchise advantage or event-film positioning in India. For years, the industry narrative has suggested that audiences are unwilling to come to theatres because OTT has changed viewing habits. Obsession offers a different reading. Audiences are not avoiding theatres. They are becoming selective about what deserves a theatrical visit. A horror film with limited expectations entering the Rs.70 crore gross club in India sends a simple message — if viewers believe a film offers an experience worth stepping out for, language, genre and star value become secondary. Theatres are not the problem. Convincing audiences that a film belongs in theatres is. That is perhaps the biggest takeaway from Obsession’s run. In an era where theatrical fatigue is frequently blamed for failures, this film has quietly shown that audiences still turn up in large numbers — provided they feel the big screen adds value to the experience. CBFC Ends Tatkal Route but bigger debate still exists
CBFC has strictly announced that Tatkal scheme won't be in operation from 1st June. Many producers have been skeptical about this development as delays in certification process have been growing prominent. A film like Jana Nayagan, still did not get any certification and producer of the film is unsure if it would ever. The logisitical issues with planning way ahead and applying two to three months ahead for certification can bring discipline to directors who tend to never finish shooting their films and rush before release week. But the discussion about CBFC functions and functioning has been confusing to makers and audiences as well. Being a certification board, many filmmakers and even audiences have asking to reframe the age-old censorship rules and rather look at just certifying. Still, the words being muted, images being blurred out and scenes being trimmed out without looking at the context seems to raise objections. Udta Punjab makers to go for legal battle to preserve the originality of the content. Some filmmakrs and films tend to shine better with raw imagery and it is important to judge from that perception rather than standardising censorship. It has been pointed out by several filmmakers that a sex scene being presented in a tasteful manner or raw manner in a story cannot be seen as a cheap tactic to entice audiences like a B-Grade or cheap comedy film might do. They have been asking for reframing the rules and limit CBFC to just a certification body like in western world. But I&B Ministry has not been heeding to these discussions and the frustration has become visible among audiences too. Recently, the cut portions in films like Obsession and Superman did not please audiences and they started asking why can't mature audiences be differentiated from young below 16 or 14 age groups. The discussion about how raw action films tend to get a pass with A at times but a small intimate scene gets an axe, even if it is important to script and treated as an expression of love or fear or plot point. Overall, the discussion is still open about how reforms should be brought in but for now, CBFC seems to be more engaged in systemic adjustments than "content-based" corrections. Did Trolls Really Kill LIK?
Vignesh Shivn recently suggested that LIK crashed after a promising start because of targeted trolls and negative reviews and that audiences did not fully give a chance to its new-age approach. But cinema has repeatedly shown that audiences do not reject films for being different. They reject films when they fail to emotionally invest in the world being created. Futuristic love stories are not new either. Films like Love Story 2050 already showed that setting a story in the future alone does not make it fresh or engaging. Interestingly, even Singeetham Srinivasa Rao once reflected similarly about Aditya 369. Despite referring to science-fiction books and theories while creating the future portions, he openly admitted that they pushed audiences to suspend disbelief too much. Many still remember the Krishna Devaraya portions more strongly because they felt more emotionally grounded. At the same time, audiences have embraced films with eccentric settings and unusual worlds when conviction worked. Films like Shankarabharanam and Paruthiveeran found acceptance despite demanding audiences enter unfamiliar spaces. Even imaginative films like Ayirathil Oruvan (Yuganiki Okkadu) continue to divide opinion despite gaining admiration over time. On top of that Indian audiences have been welcoming to far stranger worlds in Hollywood films when storytelling convinces them. Trolls may amplify reactions. But before blaming them, filmmakers may have to ask whether audiences truly believed in the world they created. Introspection can yield much better results than blame game. Did Expensive Gifts Replace 100 Days Events In Kollywood?
There was a time when blockbuster celebrations in Kollywood meant one thing — the iconic 100 days event. Grand functions, packed auditoriums and milestone posters were considered the ultimate proof of success. Today, success celebrations seem to be evolving. Instead of waiting for milestone events, stars and producers are increasingly celebrating wins by rewarding the people behind the scenes. The latest example came from Suriya after Karuppu emerged as a blockbuster. The actor gifted cars to editor R. Kalaivanan, composer Sai Abhyankkar and cinematographer GK Vishnu. Director RJ Balaji appreciated the gesture and especially highlighted the recognition given to the editor. This trend has been visible for a while now. After Vikram, Kamal Haasan gifted a Lexus to director Lokesh Kanagaraj, motorcycles to assistant directors and a Rolex watch to Suriya following his impactful cameo. Similarly, Jailer producer Kalanithi Maran gifted luxury cars to director Nelson Dilipkumar and composer Anirudh Ravichander while also rewarding Rajinikanth. Other producers including Vinod Kumar (Mark Antony), Udhayanidhi Stalin (Maamannan) and SS Lalit Kumar have also rewarded directors in recent years. 100 days events may still carry nostalgia. But today, success celebrations are increasingly becoming about recognising the people who helped create the success. Is Dil Raju vs Mythri Movie Makers costing Peddi?
Producer-distributor-exhibitor Dil Raju and his brother Shirish Reddy did not hide the fact that they have issues with Mythri Movie Makers. Currently, Mythri has been backing theatrical rights of big star films and even producing 4 of them. The popular sentiment across the Industry is that their distribution issues have started creating issues for Peddi. Until last few weeks, the percentage issue in Telangana did not become so public. Even for Ustaad Bhagat Singh starring Pawan Kalyan and produced by Mythri, there have been disagreements but not so open fights. Now, Shirish Reddy made an open statement that their theatres won't accept hiked prices in Telangana. Even exhibitors wrote letters to TG Government asking them to not consider any sort of increase in prices. Mythri Movie Makers who are releasing Peddi went to High Court and withdrew petition. Inside gossip of Industry is that Dil Raju used the real issue to put Mythri in their place and showcase his influence. Mythri distribution sector did raise issues about non-cooperation from theatre owners during their recent Jet Lee film release. They might have anticipated Peddi being Ram Charan's film won't have any problems but the film is denied hikes. This will be shown as example to stop hikes for all other big star films, too. While people who support Mythri are calling these as arm twisting tactics, others are pointing out that at least with such a war, the real problems are finding some solutions. In any case, if audiences can benefit and return to cinemas, entire Industry might just stop infighting and understand hardwiring is a necessity. Peddi's success in pulling crowds to theatres despite the talk will help in long term for sure. Hence, it is up to Ram Charan, director Buchi Babu Sana and the entire movie's team to deliver a knock out film and create a positive box office phenomenon. Peddi No Hikes in Telangana: A Curse or a Boon?
Ram Charan's Peddi is set to release in Telangana without ticket price hikes after the makers withdrew their petition from the Telangana High Court. The development comes in sharp contrast to Andhra Pradesh, where the film has secured special premiere shows along with additional ticket hikes for its opening run. Well, this move seems to be treading a tiny line that would make it appear as a curse or a boon. From a box-office perspective, the decision is a curse for producers as it could have a direct impact on Peddi's opening-day and opening-weekend records. In recent years, premium pricing has become an important factor behind the massive opening numbers posted by big-star releases. Also, with many producers planning for maximum recovery within the opening weekend, this move is going to affect the revenue big time, in a case where movie disappoints audiences. Nizam area, particularly becomes significant as Ram Charan's market is strong in the area and it yielded major revenues in his hits like Magadheera, Rangasthalam, RRR and even disasters like Bruce Lee, Vinaya Vidheya Rama, Game Changer managed decent revenues with strong opening day boost. Now, Peddi might struggle even with positive word-of-mouth to recover costs at a faster rate. On the other hand, this big step might turn into a boon in the longer run. Audiences turnout has drastically reduced in every region and Summer season for Telugu Cinema has been a nightmare with no big releases and except for Suriya's Veerabhadhrudu drawing some traction. So, Peddi becomes the desperate lifeline in this scenario. The theatres need the film to sustain the crowds over the weekend and first week at least to be able to run the engine until next big or popular release. If ticket rates remain at the same range as today, there is an outside chance of family audiences walking into the theatres even with a mixed word of mouth. The occupancies would raise and collections will be steady. So, from fans point of view, it is a curse and can be seen as a forced limitation in favour of other stars, who did get hikes. But they should remember that the hikes for ticket rates during first week and weekend got popular with Baahubali but prior to that at normal ticket prices, films did collect huge revenues. As the OTT market has crashed, it is important for producers to sustain minimum run at theatres for their films. Some pointed at theatres selling black tickets at twice the probable hiked pricing. Remember, only few can afford black tickets at such exorbitant prices, many would prefer to stand in queues or buy online. With hikes, it appears as if producers pushing everybody who wants to watch their film to pay more than they would be happy about. This trend will only kill theatre viewing habit and won't boost it.
