Suriya has delivered two back to back big hits with Karuppu and Vishwanath and Sons, this year. Aiming for a hattrick, he has come up with Scene in the direction of Jithu Madhavan and he produced it with his wife, Jyothika. Let's discuss about the movie in detail.
Plot:
DSP Inbaraj (Suriya) has an issue with his eye sight and he keeps losing it gradually, over 5 years. He is able to watch only at 10% but he develops techniques to create a safe heaven and solve cases. Before people can know about his inability, he wants to resign but his higher official doesn't accept.
During an investigation, they get to know about his issue and accept his resignation. He employs Maya (Nazriya Nazim) has his eyes to continue investigation. He needs to hunt down a contract serial killer, Eeshwaran (Naslen). How does Eeshwaran operate and can Inbaraj really solve the case? Watch the movie to know answers.
Analysis:
Suriya is very good in the role. As a person who is unable to accept the fate and learn to investigate, he is superb. His comic timing is top notch in making fun of himself as he delivers punchlines as regular commercial hero, taking joke on himself.
Naslen is excellent as a chocolate boy serial killer and his boyish charm works brilliantly. His screen presence and performance are highlight of the film. Nazriya Nazim is good with her comic timing and charming. Anandraj, Lal and Tovino Thomas are good in their scenes. Raj Priyan impresses too.

Music by Sunshin Shyam works brilliantly and integrates into the story powerfully. Cinematography and editing, technical values are good too. But the writing by Jithu Madhavan is found wanting after brilliant and funny set-up. He tries to infuse investigation and self-discovery elements but they tend to overlap too much.
While Naslen and Suriya's cat and mouse game grows interesting, the real show off doesn't really live up to the set-up. After pre-climax, the climax portions feel slightly underwhelming. But the fun scenes and characters, exciting and novel premise make it a watchable experience.
Positives:
Suriya's performance
Naslen's performance
Nazriya Nazim's comic timing.
Music by Sushin Shyam
Technical values
Negatives:
Too convenient screenplay
Underwhelming Climax
Novel premise loses steam
Bottomline: A fun and watchable film.
Rating: 2.75/5
