Sandeep Vanga lashes out at people blaming Animal

Nov 4, 2026 10:40AM

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has reacted strongly to the criticism linking his films, particularly Animal and Arjun Reddy, to the disturbing chainsaw massacre at a school. Following the horrific incident, several social media users criticised the filmmaker, arguing that the extreme violence portrayed in his films could have a harmful influence on youngsters and encourage such disturbing behaviour.

Responding to the backlash, Vanga took to X and accused certain members of the film industry of exploiting a tragedy to settle personal scores. He questioned their concern for the victims and their families, arguing that the focus should be on understanding the larger problem rather than finding cinema an easy scapegoat.

His strongly worded post read: "When someone commits a heinous crime, the first response should be empathy & an attempt to understand the larger problem. Not finding a convenient scapegoat in cinema. It is becoming increasingly clear that your concern is not for the victims or their families, but that you're using a horrific tragedy as a dirty excuse to settle your personal scores. This is especially directed at those failed frustrated jobless male/female actors, few directors, producers & parasites, who suddenly appoint themselves as social reformers whenever an opportunity arises to take a dig at someone else's work. A tragedy deserves empathy, not opportunism. Learn the difference."

The filmmaker's response has once again brought the debate surrounding cinematic violence and its potential influence on audiences into focus. While Vanga has defended his creative choices, the discussion over the responsibility of filmmakers and the impact of violent imagery continues to generate strong reactions.
