After Prabhas, Suriya is set to play this Mahabharata warrior on screen

on Oct 5, 2024

Prabhas has shocked audiences in his previous release, Kalki 2898 AD, in Mahabharata warrior's role Karna. After Krishnam Raju in Kurushektram, NTR in Dana Veera Soora Karna, he played the great mythological warrior's role in Telugu Cinema. In Tamil Cinema, legendary actor Shivaji Ganesan delivered a cult classic Karnan. But in Hindi Cinema, mythological films have not been that popular but Mahabharatam serials became huge blockbusters over decades.

Now, Nadippin Nayagan Suriya is set to play Karna's character in a Pan-Indian film. Kalki 2898 AD did well in different languages but it is yet undefined about Prabhas appearing as Karna again in the second part. If he does so, how long will there be mythological portions and futuristic portions, not known too.

But Suriya will be seen in a full blown film based on Karna. Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra, director of films like Rang De Basanti, Delhi 6, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is set to direct this film. While rumours have been aplenty that the movie has been shelved due to reported Rs.500 crores budget, the director denied such developments.

On IIFA awards event stage, he confirmed that the movie is still in initial stages of pre-production and he cannot reveal much yet. But he stated that the movie will happen and details will be out soon. Reportedly, Janhvi Kapoor is in consideration for the leading lady role. Currently, Suriya is awaiting the release of his big budget flick, Kanguva and has Suriya44 fast wrapping up in the direction of Karthik Subbaraj.
