North America Telugu Society (NATS) and Ghazal Charitable Trust Jointly adopted the villages affected with kidney failure and deaths due to poor drinking water of Uddanam area in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh.  Ghazal Srinivas, renowned Telugu Ghazal singer and Chairman of Ghazal Charitable Trust made a visit to Uddanam area and took a paadayatra while fasting in the villages affected with kidney disease due to poor drinking water. He walked through villages of  Balliputtuka, Pragada Puttuka, Pedda Sri Ramapuram, Chinna Sri Ramapuram, Kaviti and  Sompeta. He personally visited kidney patients in all the villages and noted down and understood the problems of these unfortunate souls. It is surprising and shocking to know that in every village of Uddanam area half of the population is seriously affected with kidney diseases.  It is heart breaking to notice that every month at least five to six patients are dying because of kidney failure including children below the age of 12 years.  

Many of them are daily laborers who can’t afford the cost of dialysis treatment or even travel expenses to a dialysis center which is about 150 kms away. Dialysis medications are very expensive and the cost is additional. Dialysis is a life sustaining treatment which is to be done at least three times a week.  After understanding the pathetic situation of the patients NATS and GCT in association with Uddanam foundation lead by Sri.  P. Sairaj, MLA, Icchapuram decided to sponsor the Dialysis center, Blood Bank and 3 RO water plants worth rupees 40 Lakhs in the affected villages. A website www.helpuddanam.org has been launched by Dr.Ghazal Srinivas at Kaviti village at a function organized by the Uddanam foundation. NATS president Ravi Madala and Chairman NATS Board of Trustees Ranakumar Nadella, appointed Sri.
