Aam Admi party has promised several good things to people of Delhi, but some of its promises badly need the support of NDA government on which he and his party leaders are strongly criticizing during their elections campaigning.

AAP has promised 1. Full statehood to Delhi. 2. One Rank One Pension to Defence Persons. 3. Metro Rail lines extension and ring rail service around Delhi. 4. Constituting 47 Fast Track courts for speedy justice. 5. Land Reforms to benefit farmers.

1.Full statehood to Delhi: People can recall how the people of Telangana fought for getting a separate state since last five decades and the dramatic events that take place during their struggle. There are half a dozen separate state demands long pending. Even Congress and BJP also have promised to give full statehood to Delhi in the previous elections and AAP is the third one in that list. According statehood to Delhi is a matter to be decided by NDA government and not Delhi government. So, AAP’s promise on this matter is beyond its limits.

2.One Rank One Pension: When it is about Defence, states have no role to play in it. Centre alone can take any decision on any matter related to it. Centre is already kick start that ‘one-rank one-pension’ process and so if Kejriwal is elected to power then he can talk to the Centre about this matter just to claim some credit of it.

3.Metro Rail Extension: Metro Rail line extension, ring rail service in collaboration with Indian railways both need Centre’s nod and full support, otherwise Kejriwal can do nothing. At the most, he can buy new busses and provide concessional fare for students and elderly people.

4. Land Reforms: AAP promises that it will pressurize the Centre to remove Section 33 and 81 of the Delhi Land Reform Act, to safeguard the interests of the farmers living around Delhi. However, if Centre will consider any such pleas only if there is healthy relationship between the state and central government. Even then also, any amendment to the bill needs parliament approval also. So, Centre may not take pains for amending the bill unless there is strong and healthy relation with the state.

However, these five promises made by AAP in its elections manifesto provides it ample scope to quit the government in protest.
