How Papaya Is Good For Skin Care

We all know how papaya is very healthy if consumed regularly. But do you know that papaya not only works great when consumed but it also has a lot of properties that make it an ideal natural ingredient that you can add to your skin care routine.

Papaya is considered a great natural ingredient for the skin due to the presence of Vitamin A, E and C along with a very special enzyme called papain. Vitamin A, E, and C act as anti-oxidants while papain is known for breaking down inactive protein and thus getting rid of dead skin. It also contains AHA’s that have anti-ageing properties. The fruit also has a very low sodium content which means all the more moisture for your skin.

Papaya instantly brightens your skin, gets rid of tan, helps in lightening of blemishes, helps you to heal sore and cracked heals, gets rid of acne and prevents them from coming back, acts as a mild exfoliating agent and as I have mentioned before has anti- ageing properties.

Now that we have seen how great papaya is for our skin, let’s talk about a few ways you can use it and take advantage of all the benefits it has to offer

1. Take a ripe papaya and blend it to make a smooth paste. Apply this paste on your face and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Wash with cold water. This face mask will your skin supple and moisturised and thus it is an ideal fruit pack for dry skin. You can also add honey to this mask

2. Take a few pieces of ripe papaya; and make a paste out of it by mixing it with a tablespoon of yogurt and a teaspoon lemon juice. Apply this paste on your skin and wash after 15 minutes with lukewarm water. This papaya mask helps in getting of tan and brightens your skin.

3. To use papaya as an exfoliator, mash some ripe papaya pieces and mix it with coarse sea salt or oats and use it to get rid of dry and dead skin.

4. For those who have oily or acne prone skin or both, make a paste of mashed papaya with fuller’s earth; add a little bit of lemon juice. Apply it to your skin for 15 minutes and wash with lukewarm water. You can also use sandalwood paste or powder instead of the fuller’s earth. Regular application helps in oil control and prevention of acne.

5. To get rid of freckles and brown spots that occur due to too much exposure to sun, apply papaya juice to the affected area, let it dry and then wash it off with cold water. Regular usage will help in lightening of such marks.

6. To prevent ageing and sagging of skin, make a papaya mask with mashed ripe papaya, honey and rice flour. Apply this mask and keep it for 15-20 minutes and wash it with lukewarm water. Apply this mask every alternate day and you will soon notice change in your skin.

Papaya is one of the few natural ingredients that work well on any kind of skin, whether it’s oily, dry, normal or combination. All you need to do is to learn how to use it to gain maximum benefits for your skin type.
