WHEY PROTEIN STORY
Ever wonder what the watery liquid that forms on top of curd (yoghurt) or Cottage cheese is?
We usually ignore it, some pour down the liquid, some stir it down with the yoghurt. It is in fact, Whey, a high source of Protein and Calcium.
People buy tins and boxes of Whey, spending enough money, commercially sold as a supplement for muscle strength and for prevention of heart disease and diabetes. We see most body builders using Whey protein shakes.
Whey can be seperated by straining method and stored in the refrigerator for months.
Uses of Whey:
Add to milkshakes or smoothies for extra nutrition.
Use whey to cook things like rice, upma, pasta, even quinoa.
Substitute for chicken broth in soups and stews and as a marinade in cooking.
Dilute it and use it to water your plants. Veggies like Tomatoes are extremely fond of the calcium in Whey.
You can also use it as a hair conditioner. After shampooing, pour some over your hair and massage it in. Let stay for 10 minutes and rinse. It also helps hair grow stronger.
