Tips For Good Vision
A regular eye exam is the best way to protect your eyesight and an easy precaution to take. Another way to safeguard your vision is through proper eye nutrition.
1.TAKE GOOD NUTRITIOUS FOOD: For good vision nutrition is the 1st step. Choose foods rich in antioxidants, like vitamin A&C such as green leafy vegetables, eggs, nuts, beans, oranges, citrus fruits or juices and fish. Regularly eating these foods can help lead to good eye health.
Eating a well-balanced diet also helps you maintain a healthy weight, which makes you less likely to get obesity-related diseases such as type 2 diabetes. Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in adults.
2. STOP SMOKING: Smoking causes optic nerve damage, and macular degeneration. If you've tried to quit smoking before and started smoking again, keep trying. Studies show that the more times you try to quit smoking; the more likely you are to succeed.
3.WEAR SUNGLASSES: Being outdoors on a sunny day feels wonderful but it can be tough on your eyes. The solution? Wear sunglasses that block harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. Also a hat with a brim will reduce the amount of UV radiation slipping around the side of your sunglasses.
4.EXERCISE: Exercise is important because it improves blood circulation, which, in turn, improves oxygen levels to the eyes and the removal of toxins.
5. BE SAFE at Home, Work, and While Playing Sports If you work with hazardous or airborne materials at work or home, wear safety glasses or protective goggles every time.
6. Look Away From the Computer for Good Eye Health After two hours of starting at a computer screen, you can end up with the same kind of repetitive stress in your eye muscles that a keyboard causes in your wrists.
Here are a few tips to help reduce the impact of computer eyestrain:
Keep your computer screen within 20"-24" of your eyes.
Keep the top of your computer screen slightly below eye level.
Minimize the distance between your computer screen and any documents you need to reference while working.
Adjust lighting to minimize glare on the screen.
Take a break every 15 minutes to focus on a distant object.
Blink frequently
