Have you ever heard of Epsom Salt? Sure you might have certainly heard about it, but didn’t care much of its use! Epsom salt has nothing do with our common salt. It is a pure combination of magnesium and sulphate. There used to be a water spring in England called Epsom which contained these two chemicals. People who took bath in that spring felt relieved from numerous ailments. And this led to the origin of commercial product with such combination.

 

People use this Epsom salt for various uses, but mixing a cup of Epsom salt in the bathtub is the most popular ploy. Here are a few benefits of Epsom Salt Bath.

 

Enters the body!

Epsom salt when mixed in water breaks down into magnesium and sulphate. There is a populous belief that these chemicals then enter into our body. Even if they don’t enter the body, there is enough scientific evidence to prove that they could affect our skin, muscles and joints.

 

 

Relieves from stress

There is direct relation between decreased levels of magnesium in our body and increased levels of adrenaline that causes stress. Magnesium enters our skin through the Epsom salt bath and would balance this equation. Further it helps the production of a chemical called serotonin that’s known to keep our mind calm and peaceful.

 

Extracts the toxins

Thanks to our complex living style, our body has now become a hub for numerous toxins. The sulphates in the Epsom salt are known to pull out the toxins from our body. So Epsom salt bath could be regarded as a best way to detoxify ourselves. Soaking in the bath tub filled with Epsom salt for at least 10 minutes a week can certainly serve the purpose.

Epsom Salt has the soothing effect of relaxing the muscles. It not only relieves the muscles from sprains and inflammation but is also effective in treating pains and ailments related to inflammation such as arthritis, bronchial asthma and migraine. Further magnesium helps the proper functioning of muscles by letting them to absorb the needed calcium.
