Accused No. 2 in Jagan's disproportionate assets case, auditor V Vijay Sai Reddy has b een granted bail again by the CBI court on Monday. Special Judge B Nagamaruthi Sarma of the CBI court granted bail after hearing afresh both Vijay Sai Reddy and the CBI in accordance with the order of the high court. The HC earlier set aside the bail given to the auditor by the CBI court and asked it to hear it afresh and pass an order duly recording the reasons for the same.
Vijay Sai Reddy was released from Chanchalguda jail around 7.40 pm. While reiterating his decision to set the auditor free on bail, the judge said the same set of conditions imposed in the first bail order would apply this time as well. To be available to the CBI as and when it needs for investigation and not to leave Hyderabad are the two important conditions that were imposed. Though the CBI counsel sought an interim suspension of the latest bail order for three days to enable it to challenge in the HC, the judge rejected this plea. The judge in his order cited certain judgments of the Supreme Court that said that the courts can give bail even in cases where a prima facie case is made out, where severity of punishment is more and gravity of charges is also more. The judge refused to accept the CBI'S apprehensions about the scope for the accused to abscond and the possible attempts to tamper with the evidence.
