TRS to Support UPA Candidate

The TRS is learnt to have decided to support UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee in the Presidential elections, rather than the candidate to be fielded by Mamata Banerjee-led opposition combine and probably supported by the National Democratic Alliance. This has surprised the political pundits as Pranab Mukherjee has been a bitter opponent of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and he was the one who had stone-walled the formation of Telangana state in the past. On the other hand, NDA is favourable to the Telangana statehood demand and so, KCR’s choice should have been an NDA-backed candidate. But for a strange reason, KCR chose to support the UPA candidate. It only shows he has some sort of understanding with the Congress or he is not interested in the Telangana state formation in the near future.
