Kalmadi, Andhra Pradesh Links Surfaced

Tainted IOA ex-chairman Suresh Kalmadi has close links with Andhra Pradesh's ASV Prasad. Investigations in to multicrore CWG scam unearthed a strong link between Kalmadi and CWG Organizing Committee joint-director general (sport)ASV Prasad. Prasad was earlier convener of the technical committee of the Afro Asian Games in 2003 and was also technical adviser to the Sports Authority of AP.
The disgraced IOA chairman Suresh Kalmadi had awarded the contract of supplying Timing-Scoring-Result (TSR) systems to a Swiss firm, which in turn, had given the work to the Hyderabad based company, AKR construction. Prasad, who hails from Eluru, is also director of the IOA. The CBI has alleged that Kalmadi and Prasad have illegally awarded the contract, causing a loss of 95 crore to the public exchequer. Kalmadi, Prasad and another top OC official Surjeet Lal were arrested on Monday. The Swiss firm had been selected by Prasad, Kalmadi and others of the tender evaluation committee.
