As predicted, entire Congress leaders including cabinet ministers have formed a shield around Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy, defending her against CBI charge sheet and opposition attacks. Ministers DK Aruna, Ponnala Lakshmayya, Kanna Lakshmi Narayana and many others like Gandra Venkata Ramana have virtually insulated Sabita from the opposition attacks by coming to her support. All of they adopts the standard practice by launching counter attacks on opposition parties while soothing Sabita.

They said Sabita need not to resign as CBI has made allegations only, which doesn’t mean that she is guilty anyway. They have rubbished the opposition demands for her resignation, stating its very common practice for opposition to come-up with such demands, whenever they get an opportunity.

Even central ministers Vayalar Ravi and Ghulam Nabi Azad also stood by her and said she need not to resign at this juncture as she is not proved guilty in the case. Azad has asked her not to be hurry in stepping down from her post, as the party high command will discuss the matter on her issue soon after Sonia Gandhi returns to India.

CM Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana are the first to extend their moral support to beleaguered home minister Sabita Indra Reddy, who stopped her from resigning to her post.

As expected Gandra Venkata Ramana pointed out some cases hushed during TDP regime. Hence, he said TDP has no right to demand for Sabita’s resignation. He also tried to explain that there is lots of difference between ‘facing allegations’ and ‘being proved guilty.’ “CBI has just levied some allegations against Sabita Indra Reddy in the charge sheet. It doesn’t mean that she is guilty. If, CBI could prove its allegations true in the court, then only she will be considered as guilty. Hence, she need not to worry about the charge sheet or allegations or the opposition demand for resignation. She should continue in her post as usually,” he said.

Obviously, entire Congress team has not only boosted the spirits of Sabita Indra Reddy to face the opposition party’s attacks, but also very wisely created a sympathetic atmosphere for her with their statements and support. They have adopted the standard practice of raising the faults and mistakes of opposition parties to overcome the serious problem. Virtually, they made a wall for her defending from the opposition attacks. However, the question is can their arguments and support could save her in the court?
