Anger is a natural and normal emotion where we get furious over a person or situation and we express our fury and then it is over. Many of us have learnt that it is not nice, polite, or acceptable for us to be angry. We learn to swallow our angry feelings. Anger withheld for a long time leads to resentment which in turn settles in our bodies, in the joints and muscles and can even lead to diseases such as arthritis or varied aches and pains.

It is important that we need to acknowledge all our emotions including anger, and find positive ways to express these feelings. It’s Okay to be angry and we don’t have to hit people or yell at them. A simple and clear statement saying that,” This makes me angry” or “I am angry about what you did” is enough. If it is not appropriate to say this, we still have many options. We can scream into a pillow, beat the bed, run or yell in the car with the windows rolled up or any other way that best suits you. These are all healthy outlets. The key is to find a way to achieve anger release that works for you while keeping you from hurting those around you.

Another easier method is where you could just pen your thoughts on to a piece of paper or in a journal, without having to exhibit your feelings in a more private place. It becomes a more secure place to find an expression for your anger and rage without it being detrimental to your personal or work relationships. Sometimes, you'll discover that you've directed your anger at someone or something in error.

In addition it is a great way to see yourself - outside of you. Zoom out of the situation and view yourself from higher plane. After you have calmed down you have the ability to logically examine your thoughts, emotions and actions.

Visualize your anger and stress being transferred from your mind and body, through your fingers onto a written page.

A wonderful way to assess yourself would be to ask:

ü  Why did I get angry?

ü  What did I do when I got angry?

ü  What could I have done differently?

Please remember that this journal is not a collection of your mistakes and failures for you to look back upon but it is to be used as an outline for future triumphs.

Another healthy way to release anger is through meditative breathing to calm the body-mind. Take a walk for 5 minutes or more, swinging your arms back and forth - when your right foot steps forward, your left arm swings forward, and when your left foot steps forward your right arm swings forward. Keep your breathing even, such as 2 steps to breathe in and 2 steps to breathe out.

The minute you get angry with a person or situation - feel the anger, acknowledge it and release it.

Then forgive.It Changes your life.
