News is making rounds that the kidnapped Odisha MLA Jhina Hikaka has been released by the maoists late on Thursday night. According to unconfirmed reports, the maoists set him free in Narayanapatna forest yesterday. Neither the Odisha government nor Jhina Hikaka abductors have denied the reports so far.
Yesterday it was reported that the maoists produced the MLA before a people's court somewhere in Narayanapatna block. After that there was no news about what has transpired in the people's court. The maoists also have not declared the people's court judgement so far. Meanwhile, the news of MLA's release is raising many doubts about its genuineness. Since the demands of maoists have not been fulfilled then why did they set him free, if the news is not true, why both maoists and the government are keeping mum over it, are the unamswered questions right now.
