Ambedkar Statues Destroyed in East Godawari District

Satues of Baba BR Ambedkar were destroyed by unknown miscreants at several places in East Godawari district today. The exact reason behind destruction of statues is not yet known. Amalapuram town is embroiled in tension since morning. Video Source:tv9
Local Dalit associations have come on to the roads in protest against the desecration resulting in to group clashes at several places. Police made several arrests and also used force to disperse the warring mobs. Protestors also caused damagae to the properties of particular communities. Though police could bring the situation under control in Amalapuram, rep[orts conming in that vandalism by the protestors is still continuing in adjoining villages. The Dalit Associations are demanding immediate arrest of the culprits who destroyed the statues. Police are investigating the matter.
