Will Rahul strengthen the party or split?

Finally, Rahul Gandhi has returned home after taking nearly two months leave from politics. As usually Congress party workers gave him a grand welcome on his arrival to New Delhi from Bangkok. While, the party workers are celebrating his return, senior leaders in the party are very much worried about their fate. Some of them are supporting party president Sonia Gandhi and some others are taking his side. But, majority of the leaders seem to be favoring Sonia Gandhi’s leadership than her son Rahul Gandhi.
Former Chief Minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit has stated many people in the party including her have doubts about Rahul Gandhi’s leadership abilities. So, if Rahul Gandhi tries to take the party reins from his mother Sonia Gandhi’s hands, then senior leaders like Sheila Dikshit may definitely try to prevent him from occupying his mother’s chair. But, if he managed to take the party reins into his hands then the first thing he may do is getting rid of leaders like Sheila Dikshit, who have no faith in his leadership.
So, an internal war between two groups seems to be inevitable with his return. So far, Congress party has been trying to convince the people that he went on leave to think about the Congress party and its future course. But, his return may lead to a vertical split in the party or formation of two separate strong groups within. Hence, Sonia Gandhi should ensure that her darling son Rahul Gandhi do not dismantle the Congress party that is already half dismantled.
