Besides the Telangana issue, the focus during the Telugu Desam’s Mahanadu will be on revamping the party by infusing young blood. While some party leaders want the TD chief, Mr N. Chandrababu’s son, Mr Lokesh to take charge of the Chandragiri Assembly segment as his first step into active politics, supporters of Jr NTR, backed by Mr N. Harikrishna, are seeking an active role for the star in Krishna district. TD leaders Mr Vallabhneni Vamsi and Mr Kodali Nani are strong supporters of Jr NTR and they are trying to project him as a future leader.

Meanwhile, Mr Naidu has been slowly pushing his son into active politics without much fanfare. Mr Lokesh had played an active role during the 2009 Assembly elections in the Kuppam constituency when his father was touring the state. He was also noticed by the media when he sat with his father at the hunger strike camp in the New MLA quarters. He had a brush with the police and later had stayed put at Nims till Mr Naidu was released from the hospital.

The TD chief also praises his son at every opportunity for coming up with the idea to promote the cash-transfer scheme. On the other hand, though Mr Harikrishna made it clear that his son, Jr NTR was busy with films, party sources say that he is keen to draft him into active politics since he has the charisma to carry the party.
