UPA chairperson and Congress president Smt Sonia Gandhi returned to New Delhi today morning after undergoing surgery in the United States for an undisclosed illness.
Sources said, Sonia Gandhi looked fine and fully recovered. However, when she will be going to attend to party affairs, has not been confirmed yet, the sources added. The Congress party spokesman Janardhan Dwivedi just confirmed that "She came back this morning and she is fine."
With Sonia Gandhi's return, her party heaved a sigh relief as her absence for a month has caused serious problems for the coalition government. In her absence the UPA government had been facing allegations of mishandling the biggest protests in decades and worsening ties with parliamentary allies.
