Tension is slowly easing as doctors at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences say Satya Sai Baba's condition is stable though it still continues to be grim. Baba was admitted to hospital on 28 March as he was suffering from multi-organ dysfunction. Doctors didn't give any time limit for Baba's complete recovery, but said "There is no deterioration in his health now, but he needs life support. He is responding to treatment, which is a good sign."
Dr Ravi Raj, Director of Medical Education and a nephrologist said that Baba is conscious and responding to calls. A team of doctors including Dr Ravi Raj, Dr P.V. Ramesh, principal secretary medical and health, Dr A.N. Safaya, director, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences have been giving detailed bulletins on Baba's condition since his admission. However, doctors at the Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences ruled out releasing video clipping or pictures of Sri Satya Sai Baba undergoing treatment stating it was against human rights and medical ethics. Barring two close relatives, the doctors are not allowing anyone in to the ICU for fear of infection to Baba.
