Discussions on the Lokpal Bills in Parliament are still going on. After consultations the government had with the opposition, it was decided to bring in a resolution on the three demands put forward by Team Anna which will be put to voice vote in Parliament.
The voting will first take place in the Rajya Sabha and then the Lok Sabha at 8 PM and then Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Vilasrao Deshmukh will personally carry the resolution to Anna Hazare at the Ramlila Maidan after which the anti-corruption crusader is expected to break his fast.
Sushma Swaraj, Bharatiya Janata Party MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Deshmukh, who has been in touch with Anna Hazare directly, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to finalise the final wordings of the resolution. The resolution will be brought after the discussion on the Lokpal Bills in Parliament. The resolution reads as follows: "This House agrees in principle on following issues for an effective and strong Lokpal: 1) Citizen's charter, 2) Lower bureaucracy under Lokpal through appropriate mechanism, 3) Establishment of Lokayukta in states, 4) Further resolve to forward the proceedings of the House to the Standing Committee for its perusal.
