YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy is planning to tour the Telangana region in the third week of January 2012. Though Jagan faced strong and violent protests from TRS activists during his last visit to Warangal in May 2010, this time the TRS is reportedly not going to oppose the tour. Sources say that a secret understanding has been reached between YSR Congress and the TRS party with an eye on the 2014 elections.

According to reliable sources, the TRS has been maintaining strategic silence during TDP president Chandrababu Naidu's Rythu Porubata in Telangana, only to pave way for a smooth conduct of Jagan's ensuing Odarpu Yatra. The think tank of TRS felt it would be inappropriate to oppose Naidu's visit and remain silent during Jagan's Odarpu yatra. That's the reason TRS did not create trouble during Naidu's Telangana visit.

In a bid to justify its decision of not opposing Naidu's visit to the region, unlike on the earlier instances, TRS floor leader Etela Rajendra said his party has decided to respect the democratic spirit. It’s a complete U-turn on part of TRS that has vehemently opposed both TDP and Jagan touring Telangana in the recent past even resorting to violence. Strangely, the so called 'democaratic spirit' was ignored all these years after the movement has gained momentum.

Political Grapevine is that, TRS is likely to support the candidature of YSR Congress Leader Konda Surekha either directly or indirectly in the forth coming bye election. And TRS decision not to oppose Jagan is a forerunner for the two parties to come closer in the 2014 elections. The TRS sources said Jagan will reveal his and his party's stand on the Telangana issue during his Odarpu yatra to the region in January. He is expected to assure the people of Telangana that his party would respect their aspirations in seeking a separate state.

Some senior political observers are of the opinion that this political step could be fatal to TRS ploy of 'vote-gaining-politics' using “T” sentiment, as majority of the  Telanaganaites feel YSR had crushed the T-movement. The TRS should keep it in mind that YS Jagan had openly displayed a placard in support of Samaikhya Andhra in Parliament, much to the dislike of T-protagonists.
