Over 25 MLAs who supported former Congress MP Jagan Mohan Reddy have been attending Andhra Pradesh government functions. Is YSR's son losing support? Holding his flock of MLAs together seems to be a difficult task for the YSR Congress chief. Those who resigned when he quit the party are now beginning to make a comeback. The 25 legislators were at the function promoting the state government's schemes. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy said, "Some of them are sentimentally attached to the YSR family. That's why they behaved the way they did, but I'm sure they will come back." On the one hand a soft statement and on the other, the threat of action is the dual strategy that the Chief Minister is using to deal with the dissidents. Desperate to hold his flock together, Jagan called for a meeting of his MLAs on Thursday, but it's still not clear how many of them will stay with him.
Jagan Reddy's political clout is weakening. Even as the Jagan loyalists try to downplay their decision of returning to the Congress fold, the fact that they have decided to do so at a time when the CBI is aggressively pursuing investigations against Jagan, is possibly a reminder that there are no permanent friends or foes in politics.
