Cong-PRP Merger Formalized: Chiru Dons Gandhi Topi

The much awaited Congress-PRP merger has been finally formalized on Wednesday. Speaker Nadendla Manohar has announced the merger as official. Earlier, Congress representative Krishna Reddy and PRP representative Vanga Geetha met the speaker and signed the merger document.
Praja Rajyam Party, founded by cine actor turned politician K Chiranjeevi though merged with Congress party in August last year, its formalization was pending all these days for want of speaker's clearance. Till now PRP had its own Legislature party and was sitting separately in the House. From now onwards, PRP's existence is no more and all its members are deemed to be Congress members. With this the Congress strength in Assembly rises to 154.
